Nothing lasts, that much is clear. Belonging to the same lineage as the sound/video works of William Basinski (The Disintegration Loops) or Bill Morrison (Decasia), Sunny’s durational installation Seemingly serves as a reminder of the transient nature of all things. Handmade from gelatin, soap, coffee and pigment, the illuminated cityscape of alien-looking buildings, pretty and pristine at the beginning, gradually decays over the course of the exhibition, attracting and breeding flies, emanating the most unusual scent, eventually eroding into soil. For somebody at this early stage of their artistic practice, a work so solid on both conceptual and aesthetical fronts is a welcoming sign of more promising things to come.
